Wonder What Tools I use?

Want to know what tools I use to create my Art?  Well here's a list!

If you do decide to buy any of these, by buying from my link you'll help support me!  But dont worry, you arent charged more!  I just get a few pennies for sending you over.  :)

Traditional Mediums

Watercolor Supplies

These are my favorite Paints, high quality paint at a cheap price!

Master Touch Metallic Watercolors can be found at Hobby Lobby

Water filled Brushes are great for helping to control water

140 lb, I use for watercolor sketches. Great for wet on wet

I use 300lb Heat Press Artist Loft Watercolor paper for full out paintings.  Can be found at Micheals.

My First Watercolor Set, Chalky but dried fast and was good for learning

Larger Brushes

Detail Bushes

Waterproof Pens for Inking before or after

White Pen I use for highlights, Gel Pens will work too but they are often a little see through.

If your curious to any of these mediums or methods feel free to toss me a email and ask!  And as you might can tell, I like to use chalky or oily pallates of paints over liquid.  Thats a personal preference and I encourage you to try the tubes as well, the real difference when its a good brand if how quickly and easily you get a concentrated color.  Because I enjoy layers the palates are more to my liking.

My Watercolor Pencils (Highly recommend them!)

Acrylics

Apple Barrel are decent quality at a cheap price!

I use Cheap Standard Brushes Like so, Dont spend too much for acrylic, even if you properly care for them, its just going to tear them up.

I like to use Board rather then stretched just because the board is more sturdy and fits more frames.  Stretched Canvas can tear and rip plus it cost more.  Save Stretched for oils.

Acrylics are the cheapest and most forgiving medium to work with.  Cheap supplies are often at good as the expensive ones!

Ink

Gold Ink  This brand rocks, very good for edging!  I use straight without water usually.

Water Brushes, can add ink to them. Keep Watercolor and ink brushes apart.

Waterproof ink Pens, nice size variety

A good White pen for fixing lines or making highlights

Blank Ink, Waterproof, a little goes a long way.. Horrible stainer, lift with baking soda if it gets on clothes

Multicolored Inks! Like watercolors a little goes a long way

I use brushes rather then quills for my inking but if your going to do edging a very fine brush or a quill would be recommended.  I have a antique quill that I use but I dont like using the quill myself.  This like the watercolors is my preference.

Markers

Wont Smear Ink pens for lining. Can be done before or after

Paper Matters. This is good blending and takes a LOT to leak through. The Copic Brand even recommends this brand over their own.

A Good Intro Set for Alcohol Marker Beginners (No brush tip)

My Copics and things you should know:

If you can afford the larger sets ( Like so ) they will be cheaper in the long run.. But if you've never used them then I first suggest learning to draw with a water brush and watercolors or ink.  The good thing with copics is they have a brush nib but learning to apply layers and work with a brush BEFORE will save you a lot of ink!  They blend a little but like watercolors need to be done quickly while wet and like colors are needed to do it seamlessly.  Copics can be refilled by they will always be expensive so better to try the idea with a cheaper medium first because hard nib markers are plentiful!  Without further audo

My Skintone Set

Primary Set (Okay for beginners but not the best for shading)

A Pastel set (I got them on sale, I used this set alone to create my Pink Mercy Piece.)

Muted Colors Set, very nice for shadow Shading

I also have a few random colors I bought in singles.  A Deeper red, a gold, a sea green, and a pale purple.  I also invested in a 3 pack of color blenders since my sets didnt have one and they are nifty for pushing a lightening.

Please note, Ciao are smaller and about the size of most mechanical pencils.  Sketch Markers are the original Size, oval shaped and usually more since they have more ink.  I find the Ciao are less likely to drip ink though and easier to open.  When you can refill as needed a smaller one wont hurt, especially if you wont be using them often!

Color Pencil

My Line Art Pens

I draw on Cardstock or a sturdy Drawing Paper.  Textured Paper can be cool, but a smoother is better for blending.

My Set

Pencil and Sketches

..5, .7. and .9 Mechanical Pencils

I use these for erasing. But mostly I use the kneaded eraser, its great for picking up lead without damaging paper and it wont smear your ink if you do line art!

Hand Manikan, great Reference and its can be posed! Recommended SOO much because it really helped me learn to draw hands.

Figure Manikan, can be posed! Great for learning perspective or getting portions right when sketching.

Pair with a White Pencil and this is a great way to learn to draw highlights while sketching and they look so cool.

Run of the mill Sketchbook. I like this size, its not so big that its impossible to fill a page but big enough that you can do more then tiny doodles. I also like the spiral. Its a space saver to fold it over and its easy to remove.

Digital

We all want the Cintq but this is a great Knock off!

My First Tablet ever, after 8+ years of heavy use mine still works

Tablet Arm so I can adjust the tablets height and position

Reduce Drag, Recommended even for traditional drawing

Badge Making

I have mine printed locally, I sadly dont have a printer.

My Laminator-Only good for Heat Tolerant Inks and okay for color pencils, dont use on holographic, Watercolors, ect

Paper Cutter, I use it for a straight edge cut but I also use it for trimming other stuff too. The ruler is handy for sizing everything!

Crafts

Button Maker

My clay, I just paint with acrylics to seal after baking
